Tyra II is Denmark’s newly redeveloped high-tech natural gas production hub in the North Sea, located 225 km off the coast of Jutland. Situated 54 meters above the seabed and weighing 35,000 tonnes, it’s one of the world’s most advanced gas fields. Tyra II replaces the aging Tyra field, which was central to Denmark’s energy infrastructure for over 35 years. The new facility, consisting of eight platforms, is designed for future energy production while reducing CO2 emissions from natural gas production by 30% through new technology and efficient operations. It also prioritizes crew safety and well-being with upgraded accommodations and advanced sensor technology. The redevelopment, a DKK 27 billion investment by the DUC partnership, involved significant international collaboration and local expertise, with a strong focus on reusing and recycling materials from the old Tyra field. Production from Tyra II safely resumed in March 2024.
